The Braxton Craven 6th Graders attended a very special presentation on Friday, Sept. 9, 2016.  Doug Reavis, a youth motivational speaker from Fancy Gap, VA, shared his "Silent-Strength Kindness" message with each of the three middle school teams.  The objectives of the middle school program are to encourage students to reach out to those in need of help and to create positive actions.

Students learned about Doug's brother, Chris Reavis, who showed nothing but unconditional love and kindness toward everyone until his death in 2012.  Chris was born with brain damage and could not speak, yet he managed to positively impact the lives of all he met through his actions. At the end of the program, the students repeated the "Silent-Strength" pledge in honor of Chris' life: "Today, my positive actions will speak louder than all of my words."  Both students and staff were very moved by the presentation.
